Replacement of bus shelter welcomed

Published: 11 February, 2019

Mid Tyrone Sinn Féin councillor Anne Marie Fitzgerald has welcomed the re-establishment of a Bus Shelter which had been removed over a year ago due to health and safety issues. The bus shelter, at the junction of Slievebane and Camlough roads, was in a bad state of disrepair and had been particularly badly damaged as a result of inclement weather over a year ago, having been in situ for up on 20 years.

Welcoming the re-establishment of the bus shelter Cllr Fitzgerald said:

"I have been in constant contact with the Environmental services department of the council to have a new bus shelter installed after the original one fell into a state of disrepair and had been severely damaged as a result on inclement weather, and removed. I'm glad therefore that this replacement has been reinstated on site.

"This bus shelter is used daily by pupils waiting on school buses. The removal of the original one had generated much angst amongst those users, particular through to long, wet and dark mornings of winter. Having lobbied for this replacement for over a year I welcome the fact that this have been completed. It will no doubt improve safety at this spot and be welcomed by those who gather daily at the spot.CRÍOCH
