Sinn Féin Councillor Anne Marie Fitzgerald has said that the Crowley Report needs to be released by the Irish Government so that the family of Aidan McAnespie can get the truth and justice they deserve.

The Mid Tyrone Councillor, who is also a cousin of Aidan McAnespie has re-iterated the call following news that a British Soldier has been charged with manslaughter for the killing of Aidan on 21st February 1988 at a British Army Checkpoint in Aughnacloy as he made his way to a GAA match.

Cllr Fitzgerald said,

"The McAnespie family deserve truth and justice. They have campaigned tirelessly for 30 years and the Irish government need to release the Crowley Report which is a vital step in getting to the truth of the death of this young Irishman.

"Sinn Féin will continue to support the McAnespie family until they achieve the truth and justice they deserve and the closure that they need as a family."
