West Tyrone MLA Declan Mc Aleer has welcomed the proposal to allocate an additional £11.2m to the Department of Infrastructure in the October monitoring round.
Mr Mc Aleer said "The flash floods in August had a particularly adverse impact on the west and north west and has placed additional strain on the network which was already in need of investment.
"The floods washed away bridges and roads in the north west and many of these have not been repaired due to financial constraints. This is causing a major inconvenience for local communities who are also still contending with widespread damage to farm land and community facilities.
"In addition to road and bridge damage, river banks and gabions were destroyed and in some cases the damage was so severe that rivers have now taken a new course.
"I have written to the Department of Infrastructure Permanent Secretary to highlight these issues and made the case that given the exceptional pressures on the west that the TransportNI Western Division and Rivers Agency should get a sufficient share of the additional funding to deal with the huge repair bill".
