Sinn Féin MLA Declan McAleer has welcomed the news that a £180,000 road-resurfacing scheme on the Glenpark Road, is due to begin next Monday 19 October.

Mr McAleer said,

"This resurfacing is the latest in a line of road improvements in the West Tyrone area and is to be welcomed as it is important that the road standard is maintained in the interests of safety. The new scheme will compliment works carried out earlier this year to improve safety at the junction of Glenpark and Rylagh Roads.

"The improvements to the carriageway will include resurfacing and is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete.

"If we are to reverse the number of accidents on our roads it is essential that roadways are maintained to the highest levels

"The B48 Glenpark Road will close everyday from 9:15am to 16:45pm starting on Monday 19 October with diversions in place.

"I have been informed by Transport NI that they will attempt to minimise any inconvenience to the travelling public and local communities during the time that the work is carried out.

"I would appeal to motorists and local residents to show patience and work with the contractors to minimise any disruption over the two week period".
