West Tyrone Sinn Féin Councillor has described as 'shameful' the actions of 'a small minority' of people who are attacking the community of Fintona.

Commenting on the theft of a car and criminal damage in the town on Monday morning, Councillor Campbell said,

"I am disappointed that a small number of people have once again attacked the community of Fintona. Those responsible for the theft of the car and criminal damage in Fintona should be ashamed of themselves. This was an attack on the people of Fintona who are frustrated and angered that those who carry out such attacks feel they can act with impunity.

Continuing, Councillor Campbell said,

"This latest incident follows a spate of burglaries in the area. I have previously requested a meeting with the PSNI regarding robberies and anti-community activity in the area and I have re-issued my request today. Local people are of the view that the current approach to preventing such crimes in Fintona is not working and needs to be revised.

Calling on the community to remain vigilant, Cllr Campbell said,

I would call on local people to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity. I am also calling on the PSNI to review their approach to detecting, preventing and reacting to such crimes in the area."
