Beragh traffic calming scheme welcomed

Published: 11 June, 2015

West Tyrone MLA Declan Mc Aleer has welcomed the introduction of traffic calming measures in Beragh village. Mr Mc Aleer said "The recent construction of traffic 'cushions' on the approach roads to Beragh has made the village a great deal safer for pedestrians and motorists. "Beragh is a thriving community and with new housing developments on the outskirts of the village, combined with the volume of traffic, this new scheme is essential. "Along with other public representatives and the local community, I have lobbied Roads Service for this, so I welcome its delivery. "Although I welcome the traffic calming scheme, I will continue to press for street lighting on the Laragh Road and Moylagh Roads. I have already raised this with Roads Service who agreed that both roads meet their criteria but they do not currently have the budget. "Given the health and safety implications and the fact that the department is currently bidding for funding in June monitoring, I again call on Roads Service to progress these schemes as a matter of priority".
