Carrickmore to benefit from increased Post office provision

Published: 3 June, 2015

Sinn Féin Mid Tyrone Councillor Barry McNally has welcomed confirmation that Carrickmore Post Office is set to benefit from a refurbishment as well as having longer opening hours when the changes become operational on Monday 15th June.

Speaking on the changes Councillor McNally, who lives in, and represents Carrickmore said:

"I welcome these changes to the Post Office in Carrickmore. As I understand it the Post Office will close on Thursday 11 June to allow for refurbishment to commence and will be ready for Monday 15th June. When the refurbished office is re-opened to the public it will also bring with it longer opening hours which will see it operate until 11pm each night, in line with the opening hours of Hughes Centra, where the branch is based.

"This is great news for local customers locally and I'm glad that the Post Office has recognised the need for the longer opening hours. I say this given that for those who work during the day, particularly during the week, they can now access the wide range of services available through the Post Office at a more convenient time to themselves. It will be a great development for local customers and one that I fully support and welcome.

"During the refurbishment period customers are asked to make use of their nearest alternative Post Office. For local people these could be in Creggan, Loughmacrory or Sixmilecross. CRÍOCH
