NI Water Customer Care register for elderly and vulnerable

Published: 28 May, 2015

Sinn Féin West Tyrone Councillor Stephen McCann has urged people to be aware they of the existence of an NI Water Customer Care register for elderly and vulnerable customers. The register is free to join and is open to those who have a disability, a serious medical condition, the elderly and others who may need extra help for any reason. Customers, or their representatives, can join the register by calling Waterline on 08457440088. Information is also available via their website : www.niwater.com/customer-care-register/

Speaking Cllr McCann said:

"Those on the register will be given priority when it comes to receiving alternative water supplies in the event of outages, they will receive a proactive telephone call when there is a likely hood of their supply being disrupted, a carers contact service where NI Water can liaise directly with a carer or relative on your behalf.

''I would like to encourage as many people as possible who qualify for inclusion on the Customer Care Register to avail of this service. During the last winter we experienced at first hand the severe inconveniences that interruptions to our water supply can cause, especially to the most vulnerable in our community. I would appeal to family members and carers to promote the above register to those in their care and the benefits of joining it. We never know what can happen in the future in terms of disruption to water supplies but we can be proactive now and ensure that those who need to be included on the register can avail of the benefits''
