West Tyrone MLA Declan Mc Aleer has welcomed the decision by Roads Service to introduce 'no waiting' restrictions on newly constructed passing bays on the Omagh to Cookstown Road.
Mr Mc Aleer said "I welcome the recent construction of passing bays on the A505. These are essential for the safety of all road users, particularly when motorists are making a right hand turn.
"However, what has emerged is that some motorists believe these are lay-bys and many park in the passing bays to eat their lunch, take a break or in some cases relieve themselves.
"This is particularly hazardous for road users during a right turn manoeuvre and is dangerously obstructing the sight lines of residents of the Killyclogher Road. I have visited these locations and have raised concerns directly with Roads Service.
"I therefore welcome confirmation that the legislative process to introduce 'No Waiting At Any Time' restrictions has now commenced and I strongly urge motorists to avoid parking in these passing bays".
