West Tyrone MLA Declan Mc Aleer has welcomed the announcement from NI Water that they intend to start work on a £100,000 water mains improvement scheme in Beragh on Monday. Work is expected to last for 6 weeks. Mr Mc Aleer, who also sits on the Assembly's Regional Development Committee said "The scheme will involve the installation of 670 metres of new water main between Dervaghroy Road and Radergan Road and local residents will be glad to note that access to all properties in the areas will be maintained at all times, and every effort will be made to minimise inconvenience. "NIW has also advised the public to stay away from the working areas for their own safety and are appealing for the support of parents to keep children and young people safe by explaining to them the dangers of playing in or around construction sites. "They have also completed letter drops in the area and have given assurances that they will do everything possible to complete the work as quickly as possible with minimal disruption. Mr Mc Aleer concluded "Water is a very precious commodity and when supply is interrupted for any reason we know the level of inconvenience caused to families, particularly where there are children or vulnerable people. This is a substantial investment in the Beragh area and will hopefully go a long way to protecting the water supply in this area into the future".
