Sinn Féin host Community Engagement Event in West Tyrone

Sinn Féin MP Pat Doherty has described the success of a Community Engagement Meeting addressed by himself, Education Minister John O'Dowd MLA and Mary Lou McDonald TD in West Tyrone this week.

Speaking after the event Mr Doherty said,

"We really appreciate the people travelling from all over West Tyrone to engage with us in this public forum. It was remarkable to see the large crowd being representative of all ages, backgrounds, races and communities.

"There were some really important questions asked and they added to the positive energy and atmosphere in the room. From the importance of the Irish language, to electoral pacts, to educational issues and abstentionism- all of these issues were brought up as questions and it was a great opportunity for the public to critically engage with the party.

"We are the only party that puts their leadership in front of the public like this as we believe it is important to be connected with the electorate. We find it enlightening to engage with the general public, finding out what issues are affecting them and are important to them.

"Sinn Féin in West Tyrone has gone from strength to strength and with the turn out and the engagement at the event, it was evident."
