Ballinamullin Bridge realignment to take place this financial year - Fitzgerald

Published: 17 October, 2014

Sinn Féin Mid Tyrone councillor Anne Marie Fitzgerald has welcomed confirmation that the realignment of the Ballinamullin Bridge on the Farmhill road will take place in the coming months.

The local councillor got the confirmation in correspondence with DRD about the speed of progress in relation to the scheme.

Councillor Fitzgerald said:

"The DRD confirmed to me in a letter that the realignment project on the Ballinamullin bridge will go ahead in this financial year. It was also revealed that a length of footway from the Ballinamullin road junction to the stile of the GAA playing grounds will be provided on both sides of the road in conjunction with the realignment works. This will facilitate pedestrians along this section of road and will accommodate any potential future footway. This is a welcome and much needed development.

"I also took the opportunity to press Roads Service on a footway on the Farmhill road from the Drumnakilly road junction. However having recently reviewed a 2011 survey on the road it didn't attract as a high enough priority as other essential works in the area. However we will continue to lobby Roads Service on this issue as local residents are anxious that they are accommodated in regards footway provision on this stretch of road.
