Boyle welcomes enhanced bus services for the Strabane area

Published: 2 September, 2014

Sinn Féin MLA Michaela Boyle has welcomed the announcement that Strabane passengers are set to benefit from timetable enhancements from the first week of September.

Strabane passengers will now be able to make use of a new morning through service to Belfast leaving at 5.30am - that means no changes needed in Omagh making the journey easier and more attractive. A new evening 273 service to Strabane from Foyle Street at 9.15pm to cater for those people working or studying later in the evening in Derry has also been introduced.

In addition, Sunday services between Strabane and Derry have been enhanced to cater for the increased demand for Sunday shopping.

Speaking after the announcement Ms Boyle said,

"This is welcome news for the Strabane area, especially for those travelling to Belfast Hospitals for early morning appointments or those who work in the cities. The lack of public transport from Strabane was an issue of great concern for a number of years. Therefore the news that these services have been introduced to service the Strabane area is welcomed."
