The success of Gaelscoil Na gCrann in the All Ireland drama championship was marked at a special celebration in Stormont on Monday. The reception was hosted by Declan Mc Aleer MLA and was attended by the children, parents, relatives, teachers and representatives of Irish language organisations. They were joined by MLA's along the DCAL Minister, Education Minister and the Deputy First Minister, Martin Mc Guinness who said he was honoured to be there and described the children's performance as 'wonderful'. Speaking after the event, Declan Mc Aleer said: 'I was delighted to host the All Ireland drama champions Gaelscoil Na gCrann at Parliament Buildings. Their recent success has brought great pride to Omagh, Tyrone and Ulster and as a Tyrone MLA and father of children who attend the school, I am especially proud. 'The MLA's and others gathered in the room for the performance were completely blown away by the energy and enthusiasm that the children put into it. The play tells the story of the evictions which happened after 'An Górta Mór' in Ireland. It was very powerful and had many reduced to tears as it was vividly portrayed by the children. 'It was evident that hundreds of hours of practice and rehearsal went into creating and choreographing this play. Massive credit is due to the teachers, parents, family members and most importantly, the children for making this story into a powerful and compelling play'.
