Mc Guire lobbies for Victoria Bridge safe road crossing points

Published: 30 April, 2014

Sinn Féin Councillor Kieran Mc Guire has held a site meeting with DRD Road's Service further to representations he has been making on behalf of local residents of Victoria Bridge to have "safe road crossing points' established at the local primary school and one down closer to the shop/post office in the village.
He said,
"Following representations from local residents about the dangers of attempting to cross the road at these 2 crossing points due to the volume and speed of through traffic, I held a meeting with DRD Roads Service on the 27th March at which it was agreed that they would carry out an assessment of these requests.
"Since then, residents may have noticed the traffic counters & roads service personnel at both these locations
"Although the criteria is strict it is hoped that with the high volumes of traffic travelling through the village this will see a successful outcome for the residents of Victoria Bridge.
"Also after some lobbying on behalf of the residents of Breenvale, Stages 1 and 2 of the Development have been fully adopted and I now welcome the fact that since the beginning of April, the Council's mechanical sweeper has been entering the site on a regular bases since the beginning of April 2014."
