Tyrone MLA and former Republican Prisoner Bronwyn Mc Gahan has been confirmed as the main speaker at this year's annual commemoration at the graveside of Vols. Gerard and Martin Harte in Loughmacrory on Easter Sunday. Speaking ahead of the commemoration, which takes place at 12.15pm Ms Mc Gahan said 'I am privileged to have been asked by the Milligan/Harte Cumann to speak at the graveside of Vols. Gerard and Martin who were killed in action along with Vol. Brian Mullin on 30th August 1988. 'Like many others I can vividly recall the SAS ambush at Drumnakilly and last August I was privileged to take part in the events to mark the 25th anniversary of their deaths. 'Gerard, Martin and Brian were dedicated Republicans, devoted family men and were extremely popular in the communities of Loughmacrory and Foremass from where they hailed. 'Like the volunteers of 1916, they fought for the freedom of their country and paid the ultimate sacrifice in laying down their lives for the cause. The courage of Gerard, Martin, Brian and all of those who have played their part in the fight for freedom is an inspiration to us all to continue that struggle until we reach our objective of a free and independent Ireland'.
