Bridge St closure arrangement impractical and totally unnecessary

Sinn Fein Councillor Michelle Mc Mackin on the foot of a deluge of complaints from motorists and local residents/businesses, about the total traffic congestion chaos created by the decision to close off the entire "out of town" lane along Bridge Street to undertake public realm scheme work, spoke with the Roads Service District Manager this afternoon calling upon him to urgently review, along with the appointed contractor, this impractical arrangement and which was shown to be totally unnecessary arrangement that no works were being undertaken on the closed section of the road all day. The District Manager undertook to do so as a matter of urgency. Further contact will be made with Roads Service tomorrow morning as well as with the Chief Executive of Council in an effort to ensure that there will be no repeat of today's chaotic situation.
