Work due to start to alleviate flooding on roads - Mc Guire

Published: 17 February, 2014

Derg Sinn Fein Councillor Kieran Mc Guire has welcomed the works which are due to begin to resolve flooding issues on roads in different parts of the Castlederg area.

Cllr Mc Guire said,

"During the past number of weeks there has been large amounts of rainfall which has seen many roads flooded as a result. I have had a number of site meetings with DRD Road Service on the Lettercarn, Envagh, Corgary, Trienamongan, Laghtfoggy, Mullinabreen, Garvagh and Cavan roads.

Some of these need considerable work, while others can be resolved a lot quicker. While I do understand the pressures that DRD Roads Service is under at this busy time, it is imperative that work starts as soon as possible as some of these roads have very high volumes of traffic which if not resolved soon could lead to someone getting seriously hurt.

DRD Roads service has agreed to start to work through the issues of concern I have raised and will begin this week."
