£180,000 upgrade of Dooish Road welcomed.

Published: 15 January, 2014

West Tyrone Sinn Féin councillor Frankie Donnelly has welcomed the confirmation that work is to commence imminently on a £180,000 upgrade of a section of the Dooish road between Drumquin and Dromore.

He was speaking after Danny Kennedy gave the go ahead for the road works. Speaking following the announcement councillor Donnelly had this to say:

"I have in the past raised concerns with the Dooish road with senior Roads Service officials. So I am glad that remedial work will be carried out imminently on this important link road between Drumquin and Dromore. The actual site of the work is between Boyds Road and Holme Road. I know this work will be welcomed by residents and users of the road and will go some way in improving the safety of the road.

"It is my understanding that in order to facilitate the upgrade of this road that the Dooish road will be closed to through traffic between8am till 5pm each working day until the road works are completed. This work should not affect local residents who will still have access to their properties during this time. However local people should take this into account when travelling and allow extra time for their journey.
