Young republican activists travelled from the four corners of Ireland to Omagh last Saturday to engage in the Sinn Féin annual Youth Conference.

The event which, was held in the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh, included robust reports and discussions, on Ógra Shinn Féin, republican presence in the Colleges and Sinn Féin's engagement with youth in the community, as well as outlining the vision and objectives of the new national youth committee.

Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson, Gerry Kelly MLA and Megan Fearon Sinn Féins youngest MLA addressed the meeting.

Speaking after the meeting, Strabane Sinn Féin youth activists Saorla Ní Chearúllain and Grian Ní Dhaimhín said,

"It is always extremely useful to get activists together to debate and plot the future direction of the struggle. There was a lot of extremely useful debate at the conference, with a unique coming together of both youth and experience, to shape our engagements with young people and the type of Ireland we want to build. The more engagements we have, and ideas we share, the more professional and successful we can become. We would urge young republicans in the Strabane area to become involved with Sinn Féin and help advance our struggle for Irish unity- for more information contact our local office on 02871886464"
