Strabane Business Park raised with DETI Minister- Boyle

Published: 5 June, 2013

West Tyrone Sinn Fein MLA Michaela Boyle has this week questioned the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Investment for an update on her efforts to stimulate inward investment on an all-island basis, with a particular emphasis placed on Strabane Business Park.

The minister Arlene Foster indicated that she wants to see businesses come and use the park. The first phase of construction in the Strabane business park is completed, releasing 16 acres of new service land to support economic development in the area. To date, DETI have received formal interest in the new land from five businesses. DETI have given assurances that they will continue to work closely with them over the coming months to develop those growth projects further.

Mrs Boyle said,

"From 2006, Sinn Féin spearheaded a campaign to get DETI to redress the shortage of available industrial land in Strabane and the development of this new 40acre Business Park was the outcome with 19 acres of serviced sites now ready for inward investment/business expansion projects.

"I hope that we soon see the benefit of this infrastructure being put in place through inward investment, business expansion and most crucially the creation of new jobs. I look forward to visiting the first firm that goes into the new Strabane business park."
