Mc Hugh expresses his disappointment at the closure of the shop in Clady village

Following the recent closure of Kellys shop in Clady, local Sinn Féin councillor Maolíosa Mc Hugh hopes for the service to be restored to the village as soon as possible.

Cllr Mc Hugh said

'It is with great disappointment that I learned of the closure of the Kelly's shop in Clady. Not only did James Kelly offer an excellent service in the provision of goods to the local community, especially, early in the morning and after the hours of 6 o'clock in the evening but also he facilitated a valuable service in the Post Office and The Lotto'.

He continued

'Village and rural communities are constantly under pressure in providing the most basic of needs conveniently to the local population and whilst much publicity is given to the support of businesses in the larger towns less attention is given to the development of initiatives to support basic services in smaller communities. I hope in the near future some enterprising person will see a business opportunity and that services will be restored to the village of Clady'.
