Omagh Town Sinn Féin Councillor Sorcha McAnespy has welcomed the launch of a new photographic exhibition looking back at the history of Omagh Town Hall which was launched on Thursday at the Strule Arts Centre. The Arts Centre and Public Service Building now occupy the land where the Omagh Town Hall once stood.

Speaking as she attended the launch of the Exhibition councillor McAnespy said:

"I was glad to be in attendance for the launch of this exhibition, as well as a representative of the Board of Management for the Strule Arts Centre; I was also a strong advocate of this exhibition and had worked alongside Mark McGrath and John McCusker in its delivery.

"Omagh Town Hall took pride of place in the Centre of Omagh Town for many years until it was demolished over 10 years ago. Many people who are old enough to remember it will have great memories of the hall, whether it was performing in it for pantomimes, feiseanna or talent shows. Throughout its colourful history many key figures of historical significance graced its stage and many of these are recalled in this exhibition.

"I would urge anyone who has yet to see the Exhibition to call along to the Strule Arts Centre before Saturday 18th May to view the exhibition and I would invite people to share their memories of their experiences of Omagh Town Hall.
