Gerard O Callaghan remembered at Tullysaran commemoration

The Easter commemoration at the graveside of Vol Gerard O'Callaghan in Tullysaran took place on Easter Sunday morning at 10.45.

The Commemoration, which was attended by over 70 people, was organized by local Sinn Féin Cumann which is named in memory of Gerard and was also attended by members of the O'Callaghan family.

Local Sinn Féin Councillor Gerard Paul White chaired the proceedings, while the Easter Proclamation was read by Tessa Copely. Emma Smyth read out the Roll of Honour while the Rosary as Gaeilge was recited by Freddie Toal. John Jordan played a lament on the pipes.

The main oration was delivered by East Tyrone Councillor Pádraig Quinn. He reminded people that a United Ireland is our primary goal and he called on everyone young and old to play their part. During the proceedings wreaths were laid on behalf of the Republican Movement, Tullysaran Sinn Féin Cumann, Tullysaran National Graves, the O'Callaghan family and comrades wreaths.
