Vol. Dan Mc Anallen commemorated at Eglish Easter commemoration

The Easter commemoration at the graveside of Vol Dan McAnallen in Eglish took place on Easter Sunday morning.

The Commemoration, which was attended by over 50 people was organized by the local Sinn Féin Cumann, which is named in memory of Dan and was also attended by members of the Mc Anallen family.

Local Cumann Chair Colm Gildernew chaired the proceedings, while the Easter Proclamation was read by Michelle Gildernew M.P. Paul Corrigan read out the Roll of Honour and the Rosary as Gaeilge was recited. Annie Gildernew played a lament during the lowering of the Flag.

The main oration was delivered by a former Comrade of Dan's local ex POW Stan Corrigan. Stan gave a very personal account of his knowledge of Dan. He reminded people that the current establishments were not what Dan and his Comrades died for and pledged on behalf of the Republican Movement that they would not rest until a fitting monument of a 32 County Ireland as envisaged in the 1916 Proclamation was achieved.

During the proceedings wreaths were laid on behalf of the Republican Movement, Brantry & Eglish Sinn Féin Cumann, by Dan's wife Bertha and his comrades.
