Planned works to Clady Main Street will proceed

Published: 11 March, 2013

Following the postponement of road and footpath improvement works to Clady Main Street which were scheduled to be completed before the end of February, local Sinn Féin councillor Maolíosa Mc Hugh has been pressing Roads Service to ensure that vital works are rescheduled as quickly as possible.

Cllr Mc Hugh said; "From being initially being made aware the road improvement works had not commenced as scheduled, I have been in contact with roads Service to firstly ascertain the reason for this disappointing development but more crucially to ensure that these vital works be rescheduled as soon as practically possible.

"It has transpired that there was an issue with contractor not being able to commence and complete the works in the scheduled timescale and therefore Roads Service had no choice but to postpone the works.

"However, I have been assured by the Divisional Roads Manager that the works will still be proceeding and are now scheduled to commence in April or in May at the latest.

"My party colleague Michaela Boyle MLA has also submitted a 'Priority Written Question' to DRD Minister Danny Kennedy seeking further clarification about the delay that has happened but also seeking to secure a re-enforced recommitment that the works will now be carried out within the rescheduled timeframe.
