Boyle meets officials on Dublin Road residents parking issue

Published: 26 February, 2013

West Tyrone MLA Michaela Boyle has met with officials from the Housing Executive and Roads Service along with community representatives and residents of the Dublin Road area to discuss a serious on-going concern in relation to access to parking at the front of a number of homes in the Dublin Road, Melmount area. Mrs Boyle stated, "Residents contacted me to raise their concerns over access to parking at the front of their homes. The residents have continually been raising this issue with the housing executive and roads service. This joint meeting has finally given the residents the opportunity to inform both agencies of their sheer frustration of no access to parking and the impact this is having on them." Roads service official Mr Deaglan McBride discussed a number of proposals that may lead to solving the problem once and for all. Mr McBride ensured that he would put proposals forward to the technical department within DOE for consideration. He welcomed the opportunity of engaging with the residents. The Housing Executive stated that they can assist the residents with a number of minor works that can commence promptly. Mrs Boyle concluded, "I am extremely hopeful that the DOE will consider the residents proposals so that an amicable resolution to the problem can be sought. I will continue to follow up with a further meeting with the DOE technical team to ensure that progress and improvements are followed through for the residents."
