Clady/Glebe Sinn Féin Councillor Maolíosa Mc Hugh has welcomed the announcement by the Roads Service of their planned works to upgrade the Main Street and footways in Clady village in the near future. Cllr Mc Hugh said 'Following representation to Roads Service over a long period of time I am now pleased to welcome their confirmation to me today (Tues 12th Feb) that they will soon begin works to completely upgrade the Main St and adjoining footways in Clady. This has been long standing issue for the village and since I was elected in May 2011 I have continuously raised this issue both in council and in meetings with Roads Service.' 'The works will include an excavation and reconstruction both of the road and footways along the Urney Road/ Main St from the junction with the Tullymoan Road to 35m on the Strabane side of the junction with Cluney Gardens. As part of the works there will be some disruption and with a road closure commencing on 25th Feb and ending on 17th March. An information leaflet will be distributed, by Roads Service, to all properties located within the scheme to ensure everyone is aware of the planned works' 'I believe that this work will compliment the work currently underway through the Riverlinks Project and have no doubt that it will improve the everyday lives of those people living in the area and greatly enhance appearance of the village'.
