Published: 11 December, 2012

Following recent 'light upgrading' works in the Castlefin Park area of Castlederg, Sinn Féin Cllr Ruairi Mc Hugh subsequently contacted by residents in a section of the estate complaining that the quality of lighting had actually deteriorated following the upgrade. Cllr Mc Hugh said, 'Following recent improvements to the general street lighting of the Castlefin Park area, I was contacted by a number of residents complaining that the quality of lighting had actually deteriorated following the upgrade. I immediately contact the street lighting section of Roads Service and requested a site meeting to enable discussion of the residents' concerns. Cllr Mc Hugh continued, 'Once the problems were pointed out to the street lighting representative it was agreed that some of the lights would be moved to a more favourable location and that other lights would have the actual lamps upgraded to provide a more powerful light. This remedial work has now solved the problems that the residents were experiencing with poor lighting during the hours of darkness and I would like to thank all those involved in ensuing that this issue was resolved to the satisfaction of everyone'
