Ballycolman Estate back alleyways undergoing major clean up

Published: 11 December, 2012

Strabane Sinn Féin Councillor Brian Mc Mahon says that the back alleyways in the Ballycolman Estate have been undergoing a major clean-up and de-weeding since last week and has commended Roads Service scheduling in the remedial actions in its programme of works as he says it is has been an ongoing issue of complaint for residents of the estate. Cllr Mc Mahon said, "The overgrown and generally poor condition of back alleyways in the Estate has been an issue of ongoing complaint from local residents and I have been continually pressing Road's Service to prioritize remedial action to address this problem. "Following repeated representations on the matter, I finally succeeded in arranging for the local Road's Service Maintenance Officer to accompany me in a walkabout of alleyways in the Estate so that he could see at first hand the extent of the problem. I very much welcome the fact that the commitment he gave at this time to take affirmative action to redress the problem has been followed through with this major clean-up and de-weeding programme. "Work started last week and is continuing and when finished the alleyways will be in a lot better condition both in terms of resident and pedestrian safety as well as more visually attractive."
