Pilot Hospital Bus Service Welcomed

Published: 5 September, 2012

Omagh Town Sinn Féin Councillor Sorcha McAnespy has welcomed a new pilot bus service servicing Altnagelvin and Enniskillen hospitals. The Bus will pass through Omagh and will help those travelling to either hospital with transport arrangements. The service, which has been in operation from Wednesday 5th September, will run every Wednesday and Thursday.

Reacting to the commencement of the Service local councillor and member of the Western Trust Local Commissioning Group Sorcha McAnespy said:

"This is welcome news for the Omagh area, especially for those travelling to Altnagelvin or Enniskillen Hospitals. The lack of public transport, particularly to Altnagelvin Hospital, from Omagh was an issue of great concern for a number of years. Therefore the news that the pilot service has been introduced to service both hospitals from Omagh is welcomed.

"The Outward service from Omagh to Altangelvin will leave Omagh Bus Station at 10am and 12 noon and will arrive at Altnagelvin at 11:15am and 1:15pm respectively. The return journey to Enniskillen will pass through Omagh at 2:15pm and 5:45pm and will arrive at the Enniskillen Hospital at 3:05pm and 6:45pm respectively.

"At present this service is a pilot and its future will depend on the uptake of the service, therefore I would urge the public to use the service, however I am in no doubt that this will be the case.
