Omagh to Enniskillen Roadworks welcomed

Published: 5 March, 2012

Sinn Féin West Tyrone councillor Ann Quinn has welcomed the commencement of road Improvements on the Omagh to Enniskillen road. The roadworks, which began on Monday, are expected to take up to a year before their completion.

Speaking on the commencement of the works West Tyrone Sinn Féin councillor Ann Quinn welcomed the scheme:

"The roadworks that have commenced today (Monday) on this road signify a £7.3 million boost to the local roads infrastructure. This particular stretch of road has been badly in need of this investment and is continually a road of concern to local people. It is a main arterial route between Omagh and Enniskillen and as such has a high volume of traffic on a daily basis. It is anticipated that the works will improve journey times, improve roads safety and enhance the overall road condition.

"Given that the road is used particularly frequently by ambulances and other emergency vehicles it is essential that it is maintained to the highest standards. These roadworks are to be welcomed and they will hopefully improve safety and convenience for people travelling between Omagh and Enniskillen.CRÍOCH
