New Directional signage to Sixmilecross

Published: 3 February, 2012

Mid Tyrone Sinn Féin councillor Sean Donnelly has welcomed a Roads Service commitment to erect new directional signage to the village of Sixmilecross. The local representative had previously highlighted to Roads Service that the village was poorly served in terms of road signage.

Speaking councillor Donnelly said:

"I welcome the commitment from DRD Roads Service to erect new directional signage to Sixmilecross. I had previously raised this issue with Roads Service in February of last year. I am glad now that they have taken on board my concerns and have moved the issue forward. In communications i have recieved from Road Service it is anticipated that the signage will be erected by April of this year.

"The issue of signage was of huge concern to local people and I had previously been approached by members of the community in Sixmilecross who expressed their concern at the lack of signage to the village. In these instances it is often the case that local people know best and so I hope that the Roads Service will engage in a public consultation exercise with the local community to assess where this signage would be best located. Hopefully this will help put Sixmilecross back on the map and help the area to be easier to locate in the future.CRIOCH
