Opening of Strabane Bus Depot facilities to be extended by 10 hours-Boyle

Published: 22 December, 2011

PubliSinn Féin West Tyrone MLA Michaela Boyle says that following extensive lobbying Translink have now confirmed that it will extend the opening hours of Strabane Bus Depot as and from 3rd January.
She said,
"Since the new Bradley Way Bus Depot facility opened in 2006, its limited opening hours have meant that many passengers have been unable to access the seated waiting area, toilets or public telephone for a substantial part of the week and this has been an area of major complaint to users of the facility.
"Along with Pat Doherty MP and local councillors I have been continually lobbying Translink to extend the opening hours of the indoor facility to bring it into line with opening hours of bus depots in towns of a similar size.
"I now welcome the response from Translink to a letter I wrote to them on the issue earlier this month in which Western Area Manager Simon Corrigan has confirmed that these concerns have now been taken on board and that as and from 3 January 2012 opening hours at the facility will be extended from the 7am-5.30pm, Mon-Fri to 6.30 am 7pm Mon-Fri. So the indoor facilities at the depot will now be open an additional 10 hours per week and this will make a massive difference in the quality of service for users.
"This will bring opening hours into line with these operated at the Translink Depot in Omagh and I would like to commend Translink officials taking on board the concerns that have been made by making this decision." Ends
