Last call for community grant aid

Published: 21 September, 2011

The chairman of Omagh District Council's Development committee, Declan Mc Aleer has made a final call for local community and voluntary groups to apply for the Councils Community Support and Capital Grant aid.

This Friday (23rd Sept) is the closing date for applications for Community Support Aid, while Capital grant applications will close at 5pm on Friday 30th September.

Community Support Grant Aid assists groups by providing financial assistance for running costs such as electricity, heating, insurance, stationary and venue hire.

Under the Capital works programme, groups can claim up to a maximum of £25,000 for the purchase of equipment or refurbishment of premises.

Urging local groups to apply before the deadline Councillor Mc Aleer said:

"I call upon local groups to apply for this funding from Omagh District Council. There are many community and voluntary organisations throughout the district which carry out invaluable work and well deserving of support. As a council, we aim to support such groups, particularly in the current austere climate.

'We particularly welcome applications from new groups who haven't applied for funding in the past. We also remain committed to offering support to groups who the council have previously assisted through our grant aid scheme.

'As such, I strongly urge local community and voluntary groups who wish to avail of this opportunity to have their forms ready and make sure to submit them before the deadline passes.

The applications forms can be collected at the Public Services Centre or can be downloaded from www.omagh.gov.uk/council_online/grant_aid/
