Exam Results due this Week

Published: 16 August, 2011

Thousands of teenagers across the North will, on Thursday receive their summer exam results. On Thursday A Level results will be revealed whilst the GCSE results are expected a week later.

In anticipation of the results local Sinn Fein councillor Anne Marie Fitzgerald has urged pupils to avail of the support services available to those receiving results.

Speaking ahead of the results councillor Fitzgerald said:

'The release of results can be a testing and stressful time for students and families alike. I would urge students not to worry and panic and take time to asses their next move and if needed, avail of the professional help and advice that is available to them.

"If people haven't done as well as predicted it is key to stay calm and not to panic. I would urge these people to ring their university to see what they can do to help them. Keeping in close contact with the university is a good step.

"Anyone with any queries about the results are asked to call the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment on 02890261260. Alternatively the Department of Employment and Learning said career advisers at job centres across the north will able to offer impartial guidance, whatever the results.

"Finally I would like to wish all the students awaiting results the very best in the coming days.
