Published: 29 June, 2011

Councillor Sorcha McAnespy has congratulated the Mangement and Staff of the Strule Arts Centre following the announcement that they had lifted their first ever charter from The Arts and Disability Forum. The ceremoney was held in Belfast earlier this week.

In a statement the local councillor said:

'It was an amazing achievement by Strule Arts Centre to lift the first ever charter from The Arts and Disability Forum. It is an absolute credit to each and every person involved in taking measures to ensure that this fabulous facility is accessible to all. This Charter was achieved because of the foresight of management of Strule arts centre who set up an advisory group to give their views and opinions where improvements could be made. Proposals brought forward by the group were were implemented.

It was with an immense sense of pride that representatives of the Arts Centre, myself included, travelled to Belfast to collect the well deserved accolade. There is an extremely important emphasis, quite rightly so, on ensuring that every member of society be able to enjoy the same benefits afforded to all able bodied individuals.
