Mc Mahon welcomes provision of right hand turning lane at Brookvale

Published: 21 June, 2011

Sinn Fein Councillor Brian Mc Mahon has welcomed plans by Roads Service to install a right hand turning lane at Brookvale on the Melmount Road saying that the road safety feature is long overdue given that a number of serious accidents have occurred at the spot.

He said,

The installation of a right hand turning lane at Brookvale is part of the planned works for the 2011/12 financial year and is a long overdue measure to enhance road safety at this part of the Melmount Road. There has been a number of serious accidents at the junction and I welcome that Roads Service are now taking the necessary remedial action.

Sinn Fein has also received representations about the poor sightlines for motorists existing Brookvale where the full view of oncoming traffic is somewhat obscured and I have also raised this problem with Roads Service who are now assessing the issue.
